Lake Hayes House, Central Otago

The sloping Site overlooks the tranquil waters of Lake Hayes and public walking track.

The building form and architectural design is derived from the physical and regional aspects of the site.

Hewn in local stone, the base of the building is grounded in the Central Otago environment. The broad platform provided, supports a much lighter horizontal steel and glass structure that relates to the flat plane and stillness of the lake.

The exterior palette of rock, sandstone, marble and blackened metal form the fabric of the house and are carried through into the interior finishes of the house reinforcing the quality and character of the home.

The dwelling is a calm contemporary lakeside villa with elegance and poise.
